Phosgenation
Phosgene is a very reactive gas that can be used to create original syntheses. In 2010, La Mesta developed an integrated continuous generation system for phosgene. Coupled with the Raptor technology, the system enables the continuous use of manufactured phosgene without storage and provides safe access to the particular chemical properties of this compound.
La Mesta expertise and continuous flow technology limits the quantities of phosgene involved to a minimum. On one hand, the reaction between phosgene and another molecule takes place in a tube just several hundred millimeters in size, and on the other, strict flow control is used to fine-tune the stoichiometry as accurately as possible, thus guaranteeing the safety of the processes involved.
Our phosgene generator enables us to work with a phosgene flow rate of 10-12 kg/hr, amounting to a production volume from several kilogrammes to several dozen tonnes of finished product per year.
Flexible and versatile, this tool is also used for producing intermediates and finished products for regulated markets like pharmaceuticals by responding to the requirements of good manufacturing practices (GMP) that guarantee the safety of the manufactured medicine to patients.
